He is Bumblebee, Jetfire & Lockdown in TRANSFORMERS – Mark Ryan hits DCS Aug 25-26
You may know him as Nasir in the ROBIN HOOD series from 1984 (aka ROBIN OF SHERWOOD), or as Gates on BLACK SAILS, but Mark Ryan has also provided the voices of some of your favorite autobots and Decepticons, picked by Michael Bay to participate in almost all of the TRANSFORMERS live action movies. Mark provided the voice of Bumblebee in TRANSFORMERS (2007), the TRANSFORMERS: BEGINNINGS short film, the TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN video game, and TRANSFORMERS: THE RIDE 3D.
He voiced Ironhide and Hoist in TRANSFORMERS: THE GAME, was the voice of Jetfire in TRANSFORMERS: REVENGE OF THE FALLEN, did the voice of Lockdown in TRANSFORMERS: AGE OF EXTINCTION, and provided the voice of the WWI Tank in TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT. Mark has also appeared in movies like THE FINAL OPTION, FIRST KNIGHT, CHARLIE’S ANGELS, Christopher Nolan’s THE PRESTIGE, the cage fighting drama STREET, and will soon be seen in STREET 2, plus the upcoming Mike Leigh film PETERLOO (about the 1819 Peterloo Massacre), and the horror film ACRE BEYOND THE RYE. Ryan trained with legendary sword master Bob Anderson, and worked as sword master on films like FIRST KNIGHT, THE BACCHAE and KING ARTHUR (2004). Mark is also an accomplished author and has written for DC Comics (GREEN ARROW ANNUAL #4) and created “The Greenwood Tarot” for Harper Collins, plus he toured the U.S. with original “Monty Python” member Eric Idle, performing at Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl. We are so very excited to welcome Mark Ryan to our guest list for DALLAS COMIC SHOW’s Fantasy Festival this August 25-26, let’s give him a warm Texas welcome!
A few fun tidbits about Mark – he originated the character of Nasir for ROBIN OF SHERWOOD, which was the very first Saracen character in a Robin Hood story. After his addition to the cast as a permanent character, the Saracen has been a part of every new Robin Hood movie/television series made since. He collaborated with comic artist Mike Grell on a graphic novel called “The Pilgrim”, which involved psychic warfare during World War II. The novel is supposedly based on Ryan’s own experience within the Intelligence Corps/Special Forces.
