Star of STREET HAWK, PIRATES OF PENZANCE, TRIAL OF THE INCREDIBLE HULK, and 70s/80s superstar Rex Smith hits DCS August 26-27, 2023!
During the late 1970s, Rex Smith was a popular teen idol appearing in 16 Magazine and Teen Beat, and turning in a gold Top 10 hit single “You Take My breath Awat” in 1979. In 1981, he hit the Top 40 with a remake of “Everlasting Love” in a duet with Rachel Sweet. Smith is best known for his role as motorcycle police officer Jesse Mach in the short-running 1985 television series STREET HAWK, but he has also made guest appearances on a variety of television shows, such as THE LOVE BOAT, BAYWATCH, CAROLINE IN THE CITY, and JAG. Also in 1982, Smith replaced Andy Gibb as a host on the music variety show SOLID GOLD. In 1989, Smith played Daredevil (also known as Matt Murdock) in the television movie THE TRIAL OF THE INCREDIBLE HULK, which was intedned to be a backdoor pilot for an ongoing Daredevil television series. From 1990 through 1992, Smith was a contract player on the CBS daytime drama AS THE WORLD TURNS in the role of Darryl Crawford. He’s also the star of movies like SOONER OR LATER, HEADING’ FOR BROADWAY, PIRATES OF PENZANCE, TRANSFORMATIONS, and more, and has had a very successful Broadway career starring in productions like GREASE, THE PIRATES OF PENZANCE, GRAND HOTEL, THE HUMAN COMEDY, THE SCARLET PIMPERNEL, and many other popular plays and musicals. Rex doesn’t do many conventions, so we’re super excited to welcome him to DALLAS COMIC SHOW’s Fantasy Festival this August 26-27, 2023!
