Legendary AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, CLOAK & DAGGER, SPIDER-MAN 2099 and X-MEN artist Rick Leonardi hits DCS April 29-30, 2023!
The great Rick Leonardi is easily one of the most beloved and influential comic book artists of the Modern Age, known for his stellar work on CLOAK AND DAGGER, UNCANNY X-MEN, NEW MUTANTS, NIGHTWING, BATGIRL, GREEN LANTERN VERSUS ALIENS, and SUPERMAN. One of his most treasured contributions to the industry was SPIDER-MAN 2099, who recently made his big screen debut in SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE, and will be a major part of the upcoming SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE this year. After his debut in THOR #303, Rick collaborated with writer Bill Mantlo on VISION AND THE SCARLET WITCH and CLOAK AND DAGGER. He is credited (along with Mike Zeck) as one of the key designers for the black costume which Spider-Man wore in the 1984 SECRET WARS mini-series, and continued wearing through the years much to the delight of fans. The idea of a black Spider-Man costume came from a fan letter from Randy Schueller, and it was a story idea Randy was paid for all those years ago. 25 years later, Marvel published Randy’s original story concept as a comic, with Rick is illustrating it, titled SENSATIONAL SPIDER-MAN: SELF-IMPROVEMENT #1.
Rick also co-created “Rose” with writer Tom DeFalco in AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #253, and helped Chris Claremont create the fictional country of Genosha in UNCANNY X-MEN #235. In April of 2019, Leonardi took on artwork for several issues of BATMAN BEYOND for DC Comics. Some of his other notable works include THE VIGILANTE (2008), JSA: CLASSIFIED, CONVERGENCE BATGIRL, BIRDS OF PREY, PAINKILLER JANE, DAREDEVIL, MARVEL COMICS PRESENTS, THE RAMPAGING HULK, and SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN. We’re extremely honored to have Rick join us for Dallas Comic Show’s “Spring Spectacular” this April 29-30, 2023!
